Cambodia - Antenatal Care
Prevention is easier than cure
An essential part of preventing difficulties and deaths during
childbirth is identifying potential problems in advance.
Medical care is not free in Cambodia so most women do not see
a medical practitioner before the birth of their child.
When complications threaten the life of the child, care is
often too little, too late.
Servants assists poor women to access these ante-natal
services at a minimal cost. Servants also trains women
in the community to recognise danger signs in pregnancy,
encouraging them to share their knowledge with others.
Through sharing their knowledge of reproductive health with
others in the community, the service has a snowball effect.
We are seeing increased rates of breast feeding, healthier
births and healthier mothers.
